- Problem:
-
- Power consumption on Voyager motherboard.
-
- +5V Current Limitation.
-
- The Power Connector on the motherboard has 4 +5V connections, each
- of these is rated at 5amps of continuous current. The maximum
- current that can be drawn on the Voyager at +5V is 20amps.
-
- EISA/ISA Specifications:
-
- Maximum current that can be drawn on 1 I/O slot is 4.5amps at +5V.
- So, The maximum current that can be drawn on an EISA/ISA board is
- equal to:
-
- 8 X 4.5amps = 36amps max.
-
- Of this amount, the motherboard draws about 5 - 7 amps on +5V,
- fully loaded condition.
- Therefore on current Voyager boards, the max current available for
- I/O cards is about 13 - 14 amps.
